DeKalb County Watershed Construction Advisory

04/15/18 10:10 am

The Department of Watershed Management (DWM) advises residents of the Fair Oaks community that repaving at the Lavista Road/Fairoaks Road intersection will be delayed until Monday, April 16, weather permitting.

Milling and paving in the southbound lane of Lavista Road at Fairoaks Road had been scheduled for completion today (Friday, April 13). However, work has been delayed until Monday to allow Atlanta Gas & Light (AGL) crews to complete gas line upgrades in the same area.

The AGL work will include gas line installation on Fairoaks Road from Lavista Road to Breckenridge Road. However, none of the newly resurfaced pavement on Fairoaks Road will be disturbed. AGL will be responsible for any restoration associated with its gas line installation project scheduled for completion next week (April 16-20).

Please be advised that a portion of the southbound lane of Lavista Road at Fairoaks Road (see map above) will be closed to accommodate the milling and paving planned on Monday, April 16. Traffic control personnel and local law enforcement will be on site to direct motorists safely through construction zone.

Paving activities should be completed within the timeframe listed above, although schedules may change based on unforeseen conditions. DWM contractors have strict instructions to restore all roadways to normal service no later than 4:00p.m., unless emergency circumstances arise.

DWM will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Please contact the DWM Project Information Line at  1-800-986-1108 or Email Us  with questions or concerns.
