Westfield Square Water Main Replacement Project Update

09/26/17 10:56 am

Dear Westfield Square Community Member:

The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) recently initiated a project to install a new water main to serve the Westfield Square community. As part of the project, approximately 3,300 linear feet of six-inch pipe has been replaced with eight-inch ductile iron pipe. Tasks associated with this project also include re-pavement of roadway along the construction alignment. See specific details associated with the scheduled repaving activities below:

Location of Paving Activities: Downing Lane, Downshire Lane, Downing Square, Downshire Square and Downshire Circle
Dates of Paving Activities:  Wednesday, Sept. 27 – Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 (weather permitting)
Approximate Time of Interruption: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm daily

During the repaving, Westfield Square residents should expect an increase in heavy equipment traffic. However, county contractors will ensure permanent access to your property during paving.
In most cases, the paving activities will take place throughout the timeframe listed above. However, schedules may change depending on your specific location and field conditions.   Contractors also have strict instructions to restore normal driveway access by 4:00 p.m., unless emergency circumstances arise.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the planned repaving for the Westfield Square Water Main Replacement project, please do not hesitate to contact the DWM Project Information line at 1-800-986-1108 or email

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work diligently to complete this essential project.
