West Nile Virus & Zika Activity / Arbovirus Program Update - August 15, 2017

Please be mindful of the current situation and use a CDC approved mosquito repellent (CDC Website Link) when you are out and about especially at dawn and dusk.
The mosquito species in our area do not travel far so if you have mosquitoes in your yard, they are probably breeding there. Please check around your property and eliminate any standing water. There is a checklist on our website (Mosquito Prevention Checklist) that can assist you in locating mosquito breeding sites. It is important that everyone help eliminate breeding sites to minimize the mosquito population.
DeKalb County's 2017 season WNV positive activity total now consists of two human cases of WNV infection, one WNV positive bird and 107 WNV positive mosquito collections from 28 WNV positive mosquito trap locations.
Attached is the Arbovirus Program Update highlighting program activity and a map showing WNV positive mosquito trap locations.
