| Toilet Retrofit Rebate Program |

This is a reminder that residents in DeKalb County may apply for a rebate to help with the purchase of water-efficient toilets to replace older models. The rebate is available until the county exhausts the funds set aside for this rebate program.
The program, approved by the Board of Commissioners in January 2008, offers $100 rebate for the purchase of toilets that use 1.28 gallons per flush and a $50 rebate for toilets using 1.6 gallons per flush. The rebate is good only for those homes built prior to 1993 and up to a maximum of three toilets in such households.
Only brand names and model numbers pre-approved by DeKalb are eligible for the rebate. For the list, see

As of late August, the county has disbursed a little more than half of the $500,000 set aside for the toilet rebate program. Homeowners have replaced more than 3,500 toilets with this rebate program. That translates to an estimated annual savings of 46 million gallons of water in the county.
