The DeKalb History Center opens a new Temporary Exhibit on the historic Mt. Zion Community. This project has been the focus of students from the Arbor Montessori School for several years and builds on their work and oral interviews from community residents. The DeKalb History Center also received assistance from Commissioner Jeff Rader to conduct research in the community.

A year ago, I publicly expressed my disappointment in the budget process for DeKalb County. The process, as described in my formal remarks in February 2009, is subject to political considerations and short-term gains at the expense of tough decisions and long-term sustainability.
